The Promethean

Forsyth is a man trapped in an endless cycle of death and restoration to life for crimes "both past and future"...
This was my first attempt at composing for film.
My good friend, Kohl Glass, was a film student at BYU at the time. As I recall, it was I who approached him about the possibility of scoring his films. The only works of mine he was familiar with were my folk-rock songs I played on my guitar, but he accepted my proposition and gave me a copy of the script (which changed drastically before the final product). I worked with that and the rough cuts he sent me periodically.
One of the major challenges was the fact that I was in Arizona whilst Kohl was in Utah, thus correspondence was limited to phone and email.
The recording was done in the living room of my good friend Marcus Howard (who has, tragically, left the music scene for the time being). We used a modified string quartet: being 2 violins, cello and bass, along with some experimentation and long hours of editing.
Kohl opted to alter the placement of the music, so what you hear in the film is not exactly what I had intended…but that’s actually pretty common, as I later learned.
